Priyam and Shivani perform Bharatanatyam



Bharatanatyam arangettram of Priyam Sarpal and Shivani Amin was organised by Nritya Abhinaya at New Delhi on May 19, 2012. The disciples of Guru Usha Rao commenced their first stage performance with Pushpanjali in Adi Talam on Karnatakadevagandhari ragam.

The debut of these two talented youngesters continued with Alaripu in chatusra ekam talam, jathiswaram in tisra ekam, ammaludan in adi tisra gali talam and varnam in adi talam in karaharapriya raga. The performance reached another level when these two dancers performed for Meera bhajan jo tum todo piya in adi talam, sindhu bhairavi raga.The continued to perform Shiva Shakti, chaliya and Tillana before concluding the show. 
Guru Usha Rao helped in Nattuvangam. Vocal by S. Sathyanarayanan, Mridangam by S. Shankar, Flute by G. Raghuraman and Violin by Kalaimamani VSK Chakrapani was also highlight of the performance. R. Suchitra compered the programme.
Proud parents Rekha and Naveen Sarpal as well as Malathi and Ganesh Amin felicitated the Guru and musicians. 

A 11th standard student of Delhi Public School, Dwarka, New Delhi Priyam was learning the classical dance since she was five years of age. She holds senior diploma in Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad.

Shivani also with a senior diploma in Bharatanatyam from Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad is a class 12 student at Hans Raj Model School, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi.   
Guru Usha Rao is the torchbearer of a unique tradition of legendary Pandanallur Chinnayya Pillai, where she has been trained in Bharatanatyam.
