Literature develops compassion


New Delhi, Dec 23 (ANI): Noted Kannada poet and former member of the Central Sahitya Akademi Council Dr. Siddhalinga Pattanashetty has said literature, particularly poetry, has immense power to develop compassion and cordial relationship among people.
He was addressing a literary evening and felicitation programme in honor of Y.Avanindranath Rao, which was organized by the Delhi Karnataka Sangha.
A poet can only see the motherhood in every woman, he explained. His wife and noted poet Dr.Hema Pattanashetty said women had greater viability than men. The literary couple also recited their poems.
Avanindranath Rao who had awarded a doctorate for the study of Central Ministerial Libraries from Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya (MGCGV), Madhya Pradesh, was felicitated by Dr.Pattanashetty.
Receiving the honor Dr. Rao, a Central Secretariat Library officer, said the determination was the key to his success.
Former Principal Information Officer and Media Adviser to the Prime Minister of India I.Ramamohan Rao and renowned scholar and Director of American Institute of Indian studies Dr. Purushottama Bilimale spoke on the occasion.
The president of the Delhi Karnataka Sangha, Dr.Venkatachala Hegde, and members of the committee, were also present on the occasion. (ANI)
