Bhoota araadane — a ritual of worshipping demons widely practised in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi — is the theme of Karnataka’s tableau which will be part of the Republic Day Parade on January 26, 2012 in the nation’s capital.
In the 2011 Republic Day Parade, Karnataka’s tableau highlighted Bidri culture which bagged the second place in the All-India competition.
Out of the five themes sent by the state to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) , the authorities selected Bhootaaraadane. The other four themes were Gol Gumbaz, Hampi’s ruins, Jog Falls and Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary. Work on the tabluea with Bhootaaradane theme has already started in Delhi.
